The theme for HKMUN 2027 is “Emergence.” Describing the natural process of the advent and genesis of all things anew, the theme of Emergence embodies the sweeping dawn of a new age our world is entering. As old hegemons fall and the geopolitical landscape enters a new multi-polar era, the concept of Emergence challenges us to challenge the notions of old and the new paradigm shifts that emerge from its ashes. 

As such, HKMUN’s theme of “Emergence” symbolises not just continuity from past successes, but also a transition towards a more open, more complete conference. Just as the dias of global discussion moves to include more perspectives, Emergence implores delegates to move towards a more inclusive, amiable environment where all individuals are eager to share their unique perspectives and solutions. Hence, individuals are guided to move beyond their preconceived biases, prejudices, and cut-and-dried sentiments towards deeply intellectual and sincere debate. Ultimately, this year’s theme pushes delegates to both “emerge” with their forthright critiques, beliefs, and ideas, and to improve themselves and emerge for the better.
